What does XXXtras expect from their Performers?

Forgive us for sounding like a headmistress, but when you are booked, you are representing the Adult Industry as a whole and that comes with responsibility.

It is common place to use stunt performers for action scenes, logically the same should be true for sex scenes and adult performers. Adult performers know their craft, are comfortable nude around strangers and can bring confidence to mainstream performers who may be less use to being nude in front of a full camera crew. We are the experts and if we always bring our A game, the industry will catch on and bookings will increase!

Relevant Experience

XXXtra performers are not expected to have mainstream film experience (nice if you do) but they are expected to have enough adult industry experience to genuinely feel confident and relaxed, nude, in front of a full crew. That is the difference between using adult performers and mainstream extras - we live for nude on camera, we have that something inside us that makes such things easy / a delight. Using adult industry performers enables productions to have a larger crew on set without fear of damaging anyone’s mental well-being. We save time and money through our unique skill set.

When I first started connecting adult performers with mainstream work, the industry was very different. Models travelled around working for large studios and this helped build confidence performing in front of others, creating the right tool set to be able to work in any environment. In recent years, work has moved away from studios to self shooting. It is now possible to have multiple successful years as an adult performer without ever leaving your own bedroom, let alone performing with and in front of others. While fantastic, performers who only have this experience are not suitable for work with XXXtras as you do not have proven comfort performing with and in front of others. Performer well-being is something XXXtras feels very strongly about. Our performers are there to ensure mainstream extras are not placed in positions that they will later regret / be haunted by. We would be mortified if we ourselves were sending talent with the wrong skill set into situations that could potentially damage them. Before going any further with your application, reflect seriously on if you currently have the right experience to know for certain that you will thrive in a busy work environment. With each casting, before you consent to be put forwards ask yourself if you genuinely have the right experience. Not doing so risks your mental well-being and if you do a bad job, the reputation of the adult industry as a whole.

  • Only respond to castings that require sexual contact if you have performed in multiple hard core sex scenes with performers other than your real life partner / best friend(s) - regardless of how limited the actual sex contact in the scene is described. One of the reasons the mainstream industry likes adult performers is that there is always an option to increase levels on the day without fearing they are going to exceed a model’s comfort limit.

  • Only respond to castings for background extra work if you have experience working with multiple film crews and other performers on different dates or on stage in front of large crowds and you enjoyed those experiences. A closed set could be up to 30 crew members, an open set is many more. You need to be comfortable with multiple eyes on you and knowing that similarly clothed performers will be working in and around you.

  • Never fake it to make it. You can gain the right experience and come back for the next casting. It is damaging to commit to projects that you are not currently qualified to work on!

Professionalism

There is still a stigma that unfairly attaches itself to sex workers. They are drug users, chancers, poorly educated, unreliable etc - I am sure you have heard them all! We need to eliminate these lies and the best way to do that is to be professional!

  • Be organised!

    • Know where you need to go

    • Know your start time

    • Have good time management skills. Allow for traffic if driving / don’t get the train that arrives just before you are due on set if taking public transport etc

    • Be polite

    • Be Enthusiastic - You will encounter Intimacy Coordinators on set. You may find it a little unnecessary having someone coach you on how to feel confident with a nipple slip when you perform hardcore sex acts for a living but engage with them, help them do their job. Intimacy coordinators are there to advocate for you and to make your job easier. If you are working with other performers outside of the industry, be a leader, bring your experience to the table and help others feel confident.

  • Be contactable!

    • Multiple people may need to reach you to confirm details (make up/hair/covid testing team/intimacy coordinator/XXXtras/the AD planning the scene/the person sorting travel and accommodation etc). Once you are booked keep your phone with you, respond to messages as fast as you can and if you are busy on set, send a brief message explaining when you will next be free to return calls as soon as you can.

XXXtras will be there to support you, we will send you addresses, help you with travel logistics, remind you of who needs to talk to you across the booking phase but you need to take responsibility in order for things to run smoothly.
